Luciana Diniz, Monica Theodorescu and Katharina Hemmer will be sharing their knowledge at the CHIO Aachen CAMPUS in 2026.
A new year full of highlights is coming up at CHIO Aachen CAMPUS: In 2026, top international riders and national coaches will give exclusive training sessions for show jumping, dressage and eventing riders. With Anne Krüger-Degener, there will also be a new format focusing on bonding and communication with the horse. In addition, para-sport will be integrated even more.
The CHIO Aachen CAMPUS uses the world-famous CHIO Aachen showgrounds throughout the year to offer exclusive training and unique further education opportunities. Riding your own horse at the Soers no longer has to remain a dream for amateur athletes and young talents. There is something for everyone at the Allianz Park – whether you are a show jumper or (para) dressage rider, an eventing talent or even someone who does not have their own horse.
Exclusive course with exceptional rider Luciana Diniz
She is an internationally successful show jumper, has taken second place in the Rolex Grand Prix at CHIO Aachen several times and last year achieved two clear rounds in the Mercedes-Benz Nations' Cup. Luciana Diniz is not only known for her successes, but also for her harmonious riding style and her commitment to training horses and riders.
She will be combining these two aspects when she gives an exclusive three-day training course from 26 to 28 May. Taking place immediately after the TSCHIO Aachen, this training course will have a very special atmosphere and will be led by an exceptional rider. "I have a holistic approach that understands performance not only in terms of sport, but also as a personal development process," says the Brazilian-born rider, who attaches particular importance to the lasting impact of her training. "These three days in Aachen will be wonderful and an unforgettable experience, not least because Aachen is my second home."
Dressage training with Monica Theodorescu and Katharina Hemmer
There are also training opportunities at the highest level for dressage riders. None other than the national coach herself will be coming to the Allianz Park for an exclusive three-day training course from 6 to 8 July. Monica Theodorescu can look back on decades of international success, having won numerous medals at the Olympic Games, World Championships and European Championships. The 62-year-old is known for her high level of expertise, experience and clear words – also with regard to horse welfare. "We are role models and must also demonstrate exemplary performance and exemplary handling of horses, and that is what we stand for," says Theodorescu.
Participants can also look forward to a comprehensive programme at the Full-service training day on 9 May. Presented by Allianz, there will be individual consultations on feeding and insurance, tips on balance, body tension and mobility from sports physicians and fitness experts, as well as advice on mental strength in equestrian sports. There will also be high-quality training with European team champion Katharina Hemmer. "I'm really looking forward to coming to Aachen in May. It's always special to be at this facility, and I'm very excited to meet the students I'll be training with," says Hemmer, adding: "I want to give everyone good individual tips to help them progress personally and with their horses."
Next eventing course to prepare for the season
Following its successful premiere last year, CHIO Aachen CAMPUS is once again offering a training programme for eventing riders – this time from 6 to 8 March as the perfect opportunity to prepare for the season. The International Training Camp Eventing will once again be led by Chris Bartle, Eventing High Performance Coach of the British team, who will work with the international participants and share his valuable and extensive knowledge. "The weekend is an opportunity to exchange ideas with enthusiastic riders in an environment dedicated to learning, excellence and horsemanship. I look forward to participants who are equally enthusiastic about correct training, horse welfare and the art of riding," emphasises Chris Bartle.
The international programme includes cross-country training on the CHIO Aachen cross-country course. Theory sessions with Chris Bartle and comprehensive feeding advice are also part of the holistic programme. Bartle places particular emphasis on the partnership between horse and rider. "An effective partnership requires shared responsibility and clear communication," says the man who was coach of the German eventing team for 16 years.
Anne Krüger-Degener and Carla Degener focus on bonding work
They are no longer unknown faces in Aachen: after several appearances at the concert "Horse & Symphony", they have already shown the audience during a live training session how a successful partnership between humans and animals is created, based on trust, resilience and connection. Anne Krüger-Degener and her daughter Carla Degener will now incorporate this bonding work into their training on 22 May, when they will be training individually with horses and humans during TSCHIO Aachen.
The correct interpretation of the horses' body language signals is just as important as the correct use of one's own body language in order to avoid misunderstandings. Various aspects of the training include responsiveness and demarcation, self-reflection and body language, as well as good communication with the horse. Always with the aim of bonding and having a responsive horse.
International expansion of para-dressage
In order to strengthen para-equestrian sports, CHIO Aachen CAMPUS is further integrating para-dressage into its offerings. National competitions have been held at CHIO Aachen CAMPUS shows in the past, but this year, international para-dressage riders from more than 15 nations will compete for the first time. "In this way, we want to give para-sport even greater visibility and offer many more top athletes the chance to compete at the Aachen Soers," explains Birgit Rosenberg, member of the board of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein.
And in a format that was introduced for the first time last year for (para) dressage, the integration of para-sports will continue in cooperation with Allianz Deutschland: CAMPUS on Tour will once again bring the national para-dressage coach, Silke Fütterer-Sommer, to riding clubs throughout Germany. Of course, the renowned show jumping coach Lars Meyer zu Bexten will also be there again.
