Isabell Werth, Marcus Ehning and Benjamin Werndl will pass on their knowledge at the CHIO Aachen CAMPUS in 2025

A live training with Isabell Werth as well as exclusive training courses with Marcus Ehning and Benjamin Werndl – these are just some of the highlights that the CHIO Aachen CAMPUS is offering in the year 2025. Furthermore, there is an offer for eventers for the first time in the form of a training session with Chris Bartle as well as more options for para dressage riders.

The CHIO Aachen CAMPUS uses the world-famous showgrounds of the CHIO Aachen all year round to offer exclusive training and unique educational formats. Hence being allowed to ride at the Soers on one’s own horse no longer has to remain a dream for hobby riders and aspiring young talents – for example in the scope of the full-service training days presented by Allianz in Germany. And there is also an appropriate format for riding sport fans, who don’t own their own horse.

Live training with dressage legend Isabell Werth

One of the highlights this year is the live training with the equestrian sport legend, Isabell Werth. The most successful German Olympic participant of all time is coming to Aachen on September 20th, to explain her training methods to the spectators and she will also be demonstrating these in the saddle herself. As such, the visitors will be given an exclusive insight into how the 15-time winner of the Lindt Prize at the CHIO Aachen trains.

Isabell Werth can hardly wait to give the masterclass in her “front room” and show the spectators, where her priorities lie when working with her sports partners. “The focus is always on a trustful connection and the suppleness of the horses,” the dressage Queen emphasised.

In order to make the event accessible to an international audience, translating devices will be available. This will allow the visitors to listen to the live training in English as well.

Exclusive training courses with Marcus Ehning and Benjamin Werndl

The first exclusive training course with Marcus Ehning in 2024 was a great success. Which is why we are even more overjoyed that the three-time winner of the Rolex Grand Prix at the CHIO Aachen is coming to the Soers in the role as trainer once again this year. “I really enjoyed the course last year, because lots of motivated riders from many different countries and fantastic horses took part,” is how the successful show-jumper explained his decision to repeat the course in the second half of the year. “Aachen simply has a special significance for me and my family, which is why I take the time to support the important work of the CHIO Aachen CAMPUS. I am looking forward to the next training course at the Soers, to interested participants and three exciting days.”

As winner of the Lambertz Nations’ Cup, Benjamin Werndl associates great emotions and dreams come true with Aachen. “When one is stood in this stadium, you experience a tingling feeling. There is a very special energy, you sense there,” the successful dressage rider and trainer, revealed. In July Werndl is returning to the Soers to give an exclusive, three-day course. “I have already been able to learn a great deal from my horses and I find it fun to share this knowledge. Like at the CHIO Aachen Campus, we in Aubenhausen also take an holistic approach and the well-being of the horses is always priority number one for us.”

First eventing course at the CHIO Aachen CAMPUS

For the first time since its inception, the CHIO Aachen CAMPUS is offering a training session for eventers – under the direction of no less than Chris Bartle. The eventing high-performance coach of the British squad is looking forward to the chance of training international participants at the Soers. “Aachen is a magnificent venue. It will be fantastic to have eventing as part of the CHIO Aachen CAMPUS for the first time. We want to expand the standard of the sport and create new incentives for horses and riders.”

Among others, the International Training Camp includes cross-country training at the CHIO Aachen grounds. Theory sessions with Chris Bartle and a fitness session for riders as well as training on the equestrian sport simulator also make up part of the integral programme. Bartle places great value on the partnership between the horse and rider. “Shared responsibility and clear communications are key aspects of an effective partnership,” said the man, who trained the German eventing team for 16 years.

More offers for para dressage

To reinforce the para equestrian sport, the CHIO Aachen CAMPUS is further integrating para dressage into its offer. Corresponding classes were already staged in the scope of the first dressage show of the CHIO Aachen CAMPUS in April 2024. “At the second show, we are also including a third para class so that all riders can compete on two days at least. Our show will then serve as a trial for the Para Dressage European Championships,” explained Birgit Rosenberg, Board Member of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein.

And together with Allianz in Germany there is also a further development to a format that was hitherto exclusively offered to show-jumpers: CAMPUS on Tour is no longer only bringing the famous trainer, Lars Meyer zu Bexten, to riding clubs throughout Germany, but for the first time now also the national coach of para dressage, Silke Fütterer-Sommer, to the (para) dressage athletes.

Live training with Lisa and Matthes Röckener

Her visit to the CHIO Aachen CAMPUS in November is not going to be her first to the famous showgrounds at the Soers: Lisa Röckener has already taken part in the “Horse & Symphony” concert at the CHIO Aachen before, in 2025 Lisa and Matthes will present a show performance during the concert. Then a few months later the pair will return as the main protagonists when they conduct a hosted live training in the Albert-Vahle Arena.

The emphasis of the format lies on liberty work and show aspects, in the course of the event the trainers will lead the audience through units with different main focuses: The work in the round pen as well as body language and praise are on the agenda just as much as riding with a neck ring together with position and leading training. Finally, Lisa and Matthes will give the spectators insights into their show programme.
