Ponies, rescue helicopter, magic show: Diverse program attracts visitors to the Soers on 24 August
Families will get their money's worth at the Summer Festival of the StädteRegion Aachen and the Family Day of the CHIO Aachen CAMPUS. The entire day is dedicated to a big joint family festival for the whole region, organized on the world-famous CHIO Aachen show grounds.
The joint goal of StädteRegion Aachen and CHIO Aachen CAMPUS is to organize a large, colourful family festival. When the CHIO Aachen show grounds open their gates on August 24th, this is exactly what visitors from the entire region can expect. From 11 am to 7 pm there will be a varied program at the Soers, offering something for every age group. Youth jumping competitions will also be held from 9 am.
This year, the two institutions have decided to combine their events - thus the Summer Festival of the StädteRegion Aachen and the Family Day of the CHIO Aachen CAMPUS are to enrich each other. Looking at the cost-free offer, it is already clear that this idea has been a success.
Emergency vehicles from the fire department, rescue service and police as well as the ADAC helicopter Christoph Europa 1 will be on display in a blue light area. There will be lots of fun and games with boules and music, upcycling activities and a magic show, creative activities and face painting for children, duck fishing and bouncy castles, as well as quizzes, treasure hunts and a wheel of fortune. Sports such as artistic cycling and football can be tried out at the RegioSportBund Aachen e.V. activity area. And the club mile also invites visitors to take part in activities organized by various clubs from the region, while the offices of the StädteRegion Aachen offer advice, tips and great activities, among other things.
Meanwhile, youth jumping competitions and a lead rein competition will take place on the outdoor arenas, and participants in the hobby horsing competitions will also be able to put their skills to the test. Hobby Horsing is a Finnish trend sport, in which figures from dressage or show jumping are imitated with a hobby horse. Naturally, CHIO Aachen mascot Karli will also be making an appearance.
The official opening will take place on the stage at 1 pm, followed by the award ceremony of the "City Cycling" at 1.30 pm. The children's musician herrH will be playing from 3 pm, and there will also be magic shows, live music and much more. Food and drinks will be available at family-friendly prices. "We are looking forward to many visitors and an entertaining day at the Soers," agree Städteregionsrat Dr. Tim Grüttemeier and the President of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein, Stefanie Peters.
